Sales was known to be involved with a “Crip” gang. Caruth was a known affiliate3 of the “Gangster Disciples,” and Mr. ![]() We have reordered and summarized the witness testimony for clarity and succinctness. The evidence at trial established that the victim’s murder occurred in retaliation for the Septemkilling of twenty-year-old Capone 1 The testimony in this case was extensive and, in large part, dealt with events preceding the murder in an effort to establish consistency between witnesses and to provide context for the relevant events.
